OMG, I'm so excited. I can hardly stand it...
For the past three years I've been trying to figure out a way to honor all of my wants and needs while I answer the call of my hungry, little soul gremlin.
My soul gremlin is the part of me that advocates for my values and passions. What it wants most for me is to physically connect with what's real in this world.
And my soul gremlin is basically demanding that I share all that I can about the importance and truth about self care. It wants me to show folks how to be authentic and creative, and build a community of badasses who are going to nurture the heck out of themselves and, collectively, create big positive changes in this world. More on that in a minute.
My soul gremlin is a LOT, and she not gonna shut up until she's satisfied.
Meanwhile, I'm this biological organism who has to manage their physical and emotional needs while also playing my part in this societal circus. Being a human is so demanding.
Anyway, I've nailed down the WHAT for CMC. Right? It's a resource sharing creative care for the mind, body and soul. What I've been struggling with, is the HOW.
I've got the blog and podcast, which I love and will continue creating. I've got my social media posts, which I feel are an important tool for connecting with folks. And I've got my gorgeous, amazing Patreon members who are helping me make all of this a more sustainable venture. But all of this still feels very impersonal and cold to me. It's not satisfying the soul gremlin.
I think it's because it's all digital, and, being a stereotypical Taurus (and, honestly, a sentient being), I need my senses engaged. I need to touch more than the letters on my keyboard, you know?
So, I'm sharing ways to be creative with self care, and what I'm finally realizing now, is that how I deliver this information also needs to be creative, itself.

A million years ago I used pick up the occasional zine (pronounced "zeen"). And if you don't know what a zine is, they're basically, little self-published booklets that typically cover topics like politics, sexuality, music, personal memoirs, you get the idea. They're not super fancy, usually just hand-made and photocopied.
And they're SO great.
It's very clear that a real human has made the zine. And I think that's something we need to amplify - that we're REAL PEOPLE, with real feelings, who need real connection.
So, naturally I'm geeking out now because I've decided to create my own zine.
Here's what's gonna happen...
You can still expect the monthly blog and podcast. And I'll still be showing up for social media as often as my soul gremlin will allow. But to soothe and satisfy said gremlin, I'm going to be getting messy and real with my Creative Self Care Zine. The goal is to publish it quarterly (but the soul gremlin is quite excitable, so there may be a bonus issue thrown in now and then).
It's going to include tips for self care, self love, and empowerment. I'm going to share personal stories, inspiring quotes, and of course, loads of art.
If you want to sign up for the zine, you can become a Patreon Member for as little as $3 month. It will also get you a few other awesome perks, as well as access to the zine archive (just in case you're reading this in the future). I'd also like to mention that (for now) I'll be donating 10% of all membership funds to grassroots organizations that are addressing issues such as homelessness, hunger, addiction and domestic violence. Once I reach 100 members I'll be donating 25%, and when I reach 1,000 I'll be donating 50%.
I truly believe that if we support and inspire one another, we can accomplish great things and really make a positive impact on our world.
I love you.
I appreciate you.
Thank you so much for being here.
I hope you find ways to soothe your soul gremlin.
...see you soon.
