A long time ago, in a land far away there was a time when I was writing, blogs and podcasts but then I had this crazy idea to make something I call the 2023 Creative Self Care Calendar Thing.
I call this a calendar thing because while it is a calendar in the sense that it organizes 2023 into days, weeks and months, it’s also a workbook for developing a growth mindset, deepening self awareness, expanding your body consciousness, and deeply connecting with every aspect of yourself, while you develop things like self acceptance, self respect and self love. And the point of all of this is so that by the end of the year you will gain a new independence and confidence, so you can get creative with your self-care.
Whoo! That’s a mouth full.
But yeah, as a massage therapist and self-care coach something that I notice with all a lot of people, including myself from time to time is that we just kind of throw our hands up in the air and say, this is it for me.
This is good as it gets.
I’m stuck in these feelings, I’m stuck in this body, stuck in these circumstances, what have you. And while you may find yourself in a shitty way, be it mentally, emotionally, physically or circumstantially, you’re not necessarily stuck there. And while I believe that we should totally except ourselves fully, wherever we’re at, that’s not to say that we can’t change things for the better.
Sometimes it’s a shift in our perspective, other times it’s actual physical, tangible change. But either way, making these changes is super overwhelming and a big fucking deal. And a lot of people don’t feel like they can take on these transformations because they’re big and scary and awkward and a mystery. And we don’t like mystery. We like predictability. We like familiarity. We like to have a sense of control.
There’s also a lot of pressure to be perfect, and to get things right the first time, and to excel at a rapid pace, and see change quickly. But there’s no way to fast-track transformation. There’s no way to do it without making a bit of a mess of things first.
And that’s why I took a break from the blogging and podcasting. Because I really wanted to create a resource that would help folks baby-step their way with all of this stuff. My mission at Crystal McLain Creative is to inspire folks to get creative with their self care. That means thinking out of the box, exploring your possibilities, and adopting curiosity while you explore what health and wellness means to you, and figure out the best ways of caring for yourself.
So, my last blog/podcast was all about pain management, and the plan for the next one was to focus on self massage and stretching tips, and that’s still on the horizon. So, thank you for your continued patience while I get that wrapped up and hopefully launched by December.
