Hey, friend. It’s been a long freaking time since I’ve talked to you here from Blog Land. I’ve been…busy. Between maintaining my own self care, creating workshops for organizations who work with with trauma victims (SAY WHAT?!), and building a self-guided online course, I haven’t had much energy for anything outside of the essentials.
But, in light of recent events, and with November creeping up on us rather quickly, I’ve been struck by a new found energy and compulsion to jump back in with the blog and podcast. I’ve also decided to stop worrying about whether or not the online course is complete before sharing it.
So today I want to tell you a little bit about this course, and why I feel like it’s really important that I just start putting it out there, piece by piece. And why I feel like it’s really important that you join me as I do.
What’s happening in our world these days is we’re being bombarded by one stressful event after another. And we’ve been rolling like this for YEARS. On top of that, the average person is over-consuming this traumatic information, all day, every day. And as far as I can tell, there isn’t going to be an end to these events, and we’re not going to give up our scrolling. But here’s the thing, we humans are not designed to experience and process this amount of stress, especially for this long.
The consequences of this are significant. Our physical, mental and emotional wellbeing are suffering, considerably. And it’s taking a toll on the quality of your life, and probably, if I’m not mistaken, leaving you feeling rather overwhelmed, hopeless, or even detached from any feelings at all.
But you deserve better. You deserve to feel like a confident, capable person in this world. And I want to teach you how.
I want to teach you the the basics about brain and body function, and how these two things work together to maintain your optimal health and wellbeing. I also want to teach you the effects that stress has on this functionality. And I want to teach you these things in conjunction with practical self care skills because that’s what it’s going to help you to make real, empowering changes in your life.
We’re all born into these bodies, but were never really taught how they work, and what they need, and why. We’re consistently reminded of things like, diet and exercise, sleep is good for you, manage your stress… But then you’re sold products and prescriptions that promise a healthier, happier you. But let’s be honest. These things aren’t really living up to your expectations, are they?
Now, I’m not here to say that these products and prescriptions aren’t valid. What I am saying is, they’re very small pieces of a much bigger puzzle to your overall health, wellness and satisfaction.
And I want to empower you with more pieces to that puzzle. And I want to teach you how to get curious so you can put these pieces together, and get creative with your self care.
This body, this brain, this vessel that you will literally spend your entire life in, is the dictator of how you show up in this world. And you deserve to know how to take care of it so you can show up like mother-lovin’ boss. And I’m talking about caring for your WHOLE self, not just your fucking waist line.
So- in this course, I’m going to teach you about the basic functions of the human organism, as well as its fundamental needs. Along with this baseline information I’m going to give you simple prompts and activities that will personalize the material, and train your brain to become more curious and creative.
And through this combination of scientific insights and practical exercises, you’re going to discover techniques that will...
- enhance your cognitive function
- manage stress more effectively
- boost your overall mood and energy.
Over the course of of our time together, you should develop a deeper understanding of how your brain and body work together to achieve your optimal health and wellbeing.
You should be able to connect the dots between your thoughts, feelings, actions and circumstances, and how they influence your mental and physical states.
And finally, you should feel more confident, capable and motivated to create the changes you need and deserve throughout your life.
Again, this course is not complete. You’ll be receiving it, in real time, as each piece is completed because I feel like we don’t have the luxury of waiting around for it’s totality.
So, this is your invitation to join me at Patreon. Typically, Patreon is a paid subscription, where folks who value my content pledge a monthly amount ranging from $3-$20 a month, depending on what they can afford. But I know that even $3 a month can be a stretch for a lot of people. So that’s why I’m making the online course accessible for FREE. If you do want to make monthly pledges to help support my work, that would be very much appreciated. But honestly, sharing this post with your trusted loved ones is also a great way to show your appreciation.
And I say trusted loved ones because here at CMC we strive to make our community a safe space for our marginalized friends and family.
We believe that people have the right to make their OWN choices about their bodies, including the choice for abortion and gender affirming procedures.
We believe EVERYONE, no matter their age, race, gender, religion, or physical or cognitive abilities, deserves respect.
And we believe creating a safe space looks like acceptance, empathy, encouragement, and autonomy.
