Patience isn't about the AMOUNT of time you wait, it's about what you DO with that time.
We spend a lot of time...W A I T I N G.
We wait in line.
We wait while we're "on hold".
We wait for test results.
We wait to hear pivotal news.
We wait for the Pandemic to pass.
We wait to see the fruits of our labor develop.
...we wait for the dog to poop.
Anyway, while we're waiting, sometimes it's hard to be patient.
We live in a culture of urgency. We want everything now, and we want to be satisfied immediately.
But honey, that's now how the world works.
Waiting is a significant, if not L O N G part of life, so you might as well make the most of it.
Now, this is the part of the blog where you're expecting me to tell you what to do while you're waiting.
I'm not gonna do that.
Instead, while life's got you on hold, I'm going to invite you to check in with yourself.
How are you feeling?
Anxious?
Irritated?
Frustrated?
Agitated?
And once you've figured out how you're feeling, ask yourself this question:
Is feeling [fill in the blank] making my situation better? Is it going to alter the time/space continuum and produce you faster results?
If the answer is no, then ask yourself this:
What can I do right now to make peace with this moment?
Then do it.
